What was going through Imelda’s mind that day is beyond my comprehension.
She must have felt extremely alone and afraid when placed in a tiny kennel at a crowded Kansas shelter.
This two-year-old puppy was trembling uncontrollably. She retreated against the wall in an attempt to find solace. All she heard, though, were loud, high-pitched sounds emanating from neighboring kennels.
Imelda appeared as though someone had painted a horribly depressing clown on her face. She was indeed that traumatized!
This tragic image quickly spread around the nation, bringing many of people to tears.
Taking on Euthanasia
When others saw Imelda in such horrible shape, they were in complete disbelief. Her terrifying video quickly went viral online, prompting many individuals to ask questions regarding her predicament.
The terrible reality was that she had no control over her dread and that, as a result, she was going to be placed on the list for euthanasia.
Fortunately, the Missouri-based Diamonds in the Ruff Rescue team heard about her ordeal and acted right away.
As soon as someone got close to her in the kennel, she shrunk.They wrote on Facebook, “She backed up to the kennel wall as if she was saying, I promise I’m good, I’ll be good, just give me a chance.”
Upon witnessing Imelda’s terrible state, the rescue freely chose to assist her in finding a lovely foster home as opposed to a minuscule kennel.
She was able to effectively exit the shelter and enter a completely new setting in a matter of days. Imelda looked so much better, even though the events of the past still seemed to unsettle her.
Although she was able to unwind a little thanks to the pleasant, calm, and comfortable surroundings, she was most delighted that she could now spend all of the love on herself.
She was no longer just one of the numerous dogs in the shelter. Neither was she disregarded nor ignored. She was the valued one now!
An Entire New Life
Imelda rapidly gained an understanding of what it is to be loved, thanks to Stephanie, her new foster mother. Imelda was very appreciative of this seasoned dog foster and enormous dog lover for accepting her with such wide arms.
She quickly became the life of the family, making friends with her fellow doggo siblings. She started to show amazing manners, such going potty outdoors and sleeping through the night without even a sound, despite her past life tragedy.
She gets along well with children and other pets. Stephanie wrote on Facebook, “She is not aggressive toward people or dogs, and she sleeps through the night in her crate without making a peep or having an accident inside. When she needs to go outside, she whines and paces the house.”
It turns out that she had only needed a safe haven—a place where she could truly feel at home—the entire time. And now that she got it, she changed magnificently, becoming a new dog.
Stephanie finds it hard to imagine that, due to her fear of dogs, she was once in danger of being put to death.
She is unquestionably improving. She has no reason to be on the Euth list other than “fear.” Stepahnie said on Facebook, “Look at her bloom..her tail wags and she seems happy.”
