Is it always true that good things come to those who wait? This is a common saying.
Rocky, an eight-year-old puppy, waited years for his happy moment, but it never seemed to come.
In actuality, this poor puppy was fighting for survival after his life took an unexpected turn. Rocky had been through a terrible existence and was in the shelter, about to be put to sleep, with no one to help him.
Even though the odds were stacked against him, he persisted.

A TikTok user named “Shelter Dogs of AZ” posted a tragic video of a black and white dog named Rocky in February 2024. Rocky would wait outside the shelter’s door every day for someone to come meet him.
He was devastated to learn that no one appeared to be interested in him.
Rocky had terrible luck with his owners all of his life. His second owner turned him over to the animal shelter in Arizona, while his first owner attempted to sell him on Facebook Marketplace.
As you may expect, this has negatively impacted this poor dog’s emotional state.
Rocky began injuring himself in the cage after being turned over to the Maricopa County Animal Care & Control shelter in Phoenix, Arizona.
His time in the shelter has left him extremely stressed out and difficult to deal with. He started reacting negatively to other dogs at the shelter, and he now wants to get away.
Rocky was given a five-day deadline by the shelter, according to Katie Gerlach, the creator of the tragic video of him that went viral on TikTok. She told Newsweek this.
He was placed on the pre-euthanasia list, and in those five days, he would have been put to death if no one had intervened to save him. This gave Gerlach the idea to post Rocky’s narrative on social media in an effort to locate a home for him and, eventually, save his life.
Defending Rocky’s Life
Rocky’s status has been altered by the shelter, and he is no longer available for public adoption. Only a New Hope rescue will be able to save him. In one of her videos, Garlach stated, “We need an only dog adopted or foster + funds for a rescue to save his life.”
Dogs with serious medical conditions or behavioral problems that make them unsuitable for public adoption are the focus of the New Hope rescue.
Rocky needed a battle-hardened someone who was prepared to stand up for him.
Days went by, but nobody showed up. Rocky was running out of time, therefore he was growing more and more frantic in his waiting for help.
Before Rocky was put to death, a miracle occurred one day: Rescue Street, a neighborhood rescue, saved him.
Good things do eventually come to those who are patient. Rocky’s life once again took an unexpected turn, but this time, for the better, despite the odds being stacked against him.
A good-hearted person intervened to stop his days of isolation and hopelessness. Rocky is now boarding, but he should soon find a loving home.
The fact that he is safe and alive is what matters. He has better days ahead of him.
