Unfortunately, the number of cats who are left behind is rising quickly every day, making it difficult to keep up with the demand. The good news is that some people are lucky enough to be given another opportunity at life.
A kind person recently got in touch with Little Wanderers, a New York-based animal rescue group, after seeing an orange tabby cat wandering alone in a park.
The cat stood in one location for months on end, patiently waiting out the bitter weather. The rescuers were drawn to the adorable cat, whom they called Finnegan.
Finnegan’s humans had abandoned him when he was a house cat, it turned out. He never gave up hope or trust, though. He waited in the park with patience, thinking his humans would come back, but alas, they never did.
When the rescuers went on a rescue operation, they discovered Finnegan curled up next to tree branches, his paw tucked in to protect him from the cold.
They expected different responses from him when they approached, but instead of surprising them, the cat gave them tender headbutts, demonstrating his amiable disposition.
Because of his friendliness, Finnegan let the rescuers carry him to safety as though he understood they were there to assist him.
Finnegan was initially afraid of the carrier, but he soon got used to it as he knew wonderful things were in store for him. Co-founder of the rescue Courtney Chandel stated:
“Finnegan is now content with Little Wanderers.” He warmed up to his new surroundings quickly.
When Finnegan got to the rescue, the vet checked him out thoroughly right away. It was found that he was not microchipped and was approximately two years old.
Having found him unharmed, the expert team set up a neuter procedure and gave him the appropriate therapies. He was in excellent overall health; all he wanted was someone to love him forever.
When he was placed in foster care under Jessica Du’s supervision, it was the first step toward his future home.
He showed his endearing nature as soon as he settled into his foster home and started exploring his new surroundings. Jessica revealed:
He is the cutest boy ever. Even though I’ve only known him for three days, I already think he has the cutest personality.
Finnegan is finally safe after waiting for help in a park for months, but more importantly, he hasn’t lost hope in people.
He is now content with his foster mother and is excited for the opportunity to live in a permanent home and have a better life!
